A new Addition
Well the wifey's car took a crap which was a good excuse to feed my addiction. Found this 74 GMC swb at a tow yard, the body is in good shape it needs cab corners but other than that it's suprisingly solid. So we'll see what kinda trouble I can get into with this one. It runs and drives good so far, needs a little TLC but I figure for $750 it will make a good project when I can get to it. best part is it's SMOG exempt.

Re: A new Addition
I thought it was a good deal but I want to play with it and my better half wants it for her driver til she gets her own car. so I guess it'll have to wait a little bit. We'll see what I can get done to it when she's not looking, LOL. Unfortunatly buying this put a hold on the engine build for my Burb.
The cat seems to think that it's a nice place to sleep.

Re: A new Addition
It says Super Custom 15 Hundred. I have never seen it either I on the fence with it. It's so big, it looks like a gauty piece of jewelry. But it's kinda unique cuz I've never seen that one before, not even in the catalogs I have.

Re: A new Addition
No,On the squarebodys it was only offered in 73-74. it's a step up from the base model(Z62 trim package.) It's the same as the Chevy Custom Deluxe.

Re: A new Addition
I'm looking for suggestions on what I should do to it. I want to bag it with a dropmember and a KP 6 link eventually. It's not in the budget right now. I have some old drop spindles and springs that came off my Burb when I redid the suspention a few years ago. P/O did the work so I don't know what they are. I'm guessing 2 1/2" spindles and 1" springs cuz what I put on it was 3" spindles and 2" springs and it's alot lower. I'm more concerned with the back I want it level or the rear 1"-1 1/2" higher than the front after I changh the spindles and springs. Right now its around 2 1/2" higher in the rear. who has a good quality flip kit that isn't expensive. and dose any one have a p/n for some shorter KYB or Bilstine shocks?

Re: A new Addition
Nice score! I would use the spindles you have and do a flip on the rear. I used a DJM on my 72. Everything seemed to be of good quality. As far as shocks, I used some generic lowering shocks from Speedway. They were about $45 a pair and seem to ride pretty good. Not sure on how long they will last, but at that price, you can't really beat em.

I started a build thread on it so we'll see what happens it's going to take some time.

Re: A new Addition
Well at least your better half likes driving old trucks around! Cool truck too!
Can we get a close up of that fender badge ? I've never seen a 73-74 GMC fender badge in person and they are the rarest of rare.

Re: A new Addition
heres one of the dash emblem. I think this one looks cool with the red Indian headress after the lettering.

Re: A new Addition
Right now it's all about getting it road worthy. all the little things mostly electrical. But I did put a old CD player I had layin around and tomorrow it gets some new brakes up front (the pads are down to the rivets and the calipers are wasted) and repack the wheel bearings. I thinkin the drop spindles can go on to since I'll already be that far into it.

Re: A new Addition
Got the spindles in while doing the brakes. They wound up being a 3" drop
Before After, still needs 1-2" more Now the back needs to go down

Re: A new Addition
Pyro, your welcome for the pics. Now the back needs to drop, then the rally wheels. But I know somthing else will come up first, it always happens that way. I'm seein a front end rebuild.

Re: A new Addition
looks to be the same green and white as my 73 c20, i loved that shade of green, cept mine only has one trim bar, not two for side stripe.
