More goodies arrived, time to start putting them on

Each year I am able to convince the "lil Lady" to let me do another of the long list of things to the 62'. Well this year it is: ( I wanted to get this done before the new short fleet bed is finished and back on)

1. Rebuild the Rear Diff with a Auburn High Performance Limited Slip Posi unit, keeping the 3.73 gearing.

2. Ceramic Headers from Rewarder (www.rewarderheaders.com) a bit pricey but some of the best out there. Will do a full 3'' Aluminumized exhaust w/Flow Master 40's dumping just before the rear axle.

3. Stainless Steel Gas Tank for the Rear.

4. Rebuild both doors, all new glass, Mechanisms, rubber etc.

The Rear Diff parts arrived as well as the Headers yesterday so I am hoping to have this in the shop (My father-in-laws, he's been a mechanic for 50+ years, has a High Performance Shop here, specializes in classic hot rods) next week having the rear end done, headers and exhaust completed, then maybe the tank will be in and we can get it mounted and plumbed, ridding the cab of the OEM version.

I will get some photos taken and posted of the goods, before and after install.

Sorry for the Rant, I am just stoked she let me do this much with the way the economy is and all. (you all know I had to sell my soul for all this ) (I think my father -in-law had a talk with her - bout the importance of men and their toys)

Hey Chav, 62short = to bring you up to speed on the Bed:

I currently have ALL the parts (front panel, both bedsides, tailgate, wheel wells, all the correct 60-62 crossmembers including the rear one that holds the bedsides together) this bed was off a 63 so the crossmembers needed to be replaced due to the x-frame (wider). all has been media blasted, etching primered and primer/sealered. I am waiting to get the rear diff done, heaaders/exhaust, and SS gas tank in and plumbed, I have a local body guy gonna do the finish work on the bed and get it into color, so we can set it on and see how it looks.

then on to the engine bay area, Radiator, new Motor, vintage A/C etc. will drive for a while and enjoy, just in time to blow it all apart, media blast, powder coat, and put back together. everything to this point has been fitting/adjusting/replacing etc. no body work has been done, it is extremely straight, want to finish mocking everything up, make note of what works best and goes where, do some grinding/filling/smoothing on the frame, have all the final body work done, and get it into its final color. then upholster etc.

I know it will take some time, but thats what I love about these trucks, I never get bored always something to do.

I will get you some pics here soon, been batchloring it here for the past six days the wife and kids are all outta town, so have had alot of quiet time, in the shop, catching up on all the movies sleeping , etc.

both of yours are looking awesome, as is everyone elses. I havent posted much lately started with a new company and am in Roswell, Hobbs, Clovis, Hagerman to name a few (handling Bank networks) so havent had much time to myself or the truck.

Thanks for asking about it - derek
