Tranny hitting the hump?!?

OK this is what I had...and I-6 (250 if that matters), 3-OTT someone had put in a newer crossmember AND it still had the original crossmember (that of which I'll be taking to the meet in TN in a couple of weeks along with a couple of doors, steering coulmn, some moulding, I-6 motor mounts...just a little plug for the meet)

We got the 307 in there (in the I-6 location). I'm going with a 700R4 Tranny

Problem is, when we put the crossmember back in the tranny hits the hump AND the drive shaft is 3-4" too long. Obviously the motor is too far back but what are the solutions here (don't say move the motor forward)?

Use V-8 frame mount towers and move the motor forward.... somebody had to say it. Maybe someone else has another solution but that is the only one I know...

Re: Tranny hitting the hump?!?

If you don't want to move it forward you may have one other option. Cut the floor put a high hump cover in & shortned the D/S. Do you have a pic of your crossmember? I might have a
different auto crossmember that would be deeper.??
