Newbie Lowering question

I recently got a '65 stepside GMC. I searched for lowering info on this forum and most is just chevy. What I want is a clean low look, I want to have my tires tucked nicely. What all will I need to do? Lowering spindles... for the front and what in the rear? I havnt seen any kits for leaf springs or is there a rear coil spring conversion? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Well, the Chevy/GMC thing is irrelevant to the suspension (some say GMCs had leafs standard and Chevys had coils standard, but pay no attention to that). So anything made for a 65 chevy front end will also work on yours (in most cases 63-72) and anything made for leafs (chev or gmc) will work on yours (not sure on that year range).

There is a leaf to coil conversion in the works by CPP, but you don't need it. If you want to convert to coils you can just swap it all over from a coil truck (with some spring perch fabbing due to the frame differences).

Depending on how low you want to go you could go mild or wild. Mild would be drop spindles and/or drop springs up front and a flip kit and possibly C-Notch out back. Wild would be drop spindles and bags up front and a 4-link and bags out bag with a C or step notch.

Hm.. probably will go with a flip kit, and by that you mean the flipping the leafs right? Where would be a good place to find one? Thanks again!

Re: Newbie Lowering question

by flipping the axle, you put the axle on top of the leafs instead of the stock position under the leafs....
any one make drop shackles for these?
heck i'm not sure what the shackles even look like, not sure if i have ever seen a leaf set up in these up close and personal
