Search For "Cab Lift". Look for post by ROKCRLN. He has plans for a cab and bed lift.

I used a forklift and a couple slings, but my glass was all out

Re: how to take cab off with one person?

In my opinion the easiest way is the cab lift from Rockrln. I use it all the time and it is a piece of cake. You do need a cherry picker though.

Re: how to take cab off with one person?

using the engine crane is a very easy way to remove cab// it's possible to do with a floor jack and a bunch of wood blocks too

the whole key to removing the cab or any heavy object is a basic understanding of leverage and an ability to outthink the piece needing to be removed

Re: how to take cab off with one person?

How big are you???? If you don't want to keep the cab just roll it off, other wise get a cherry picker. I had the engine and everything out of mine and just tilted one corner then the other till it came off the frame, but I screwed up the passenger side cabcorner. I had to replace it anyway, but it wasn't the most desireable way

Re: how to take cab off with one person?

All I did was drill a hole in the middle of an eight foot 2x4. Attach the 2x4 to the bolt on the Cherry picker end, center bolt in cab with 2x4 to the front of the cab, LIFT!

$340 seems pretty high. I bought an AC Delco Hoist at Oreilly Auto for around $240. You can get cheaper, but I don't like to try and save money on lifting equipment.

The following link has some info on it with picture.

http://www.bencostuff.com/products/j...Engine%20Crane

I would also suggest the cab and lift that others have recommended. I used it on my truck and I thought it worked great. Took the cab and bed off by myself, easy.

He also has plans for a tip/flip dolly that are in his sig. I purchased those as well and can highly recommend. Makes it nice to be able to roll around the cab all over the garage, in the driveway, etc.

Here's a link to the cab/bed lift post.

Re: how to take cab off with one person?

I rolled the truck out in the grass and pushed the cab to one side slowly until it teetered. I lifted it slowly and it slid off into the grass. It only fell about 6 inches until it hit the grass. Then I just stood it up on its side. I had to replace the corners and rockers so I wasn't worried about damaging them when it hit. It was a little harder to get back on but I did it the same way in reverse. By the way I had the whole cab completely stripped of glass, doors, etc. It was just a shell.
