truck rant

ok my parents came into town for a wedding, so down the road from the hotel they were staying at was a 72 cheyanne for sale. I told told my dad and we went to look at it.. It said original owner unrestored..but it looked almost brand new it was super clean with just a minimal amount of rust in the bed floor. It was a non AC 350 with the original hubcaps. It said make offer..So my dad called the guy and wouldnt u know it, my dad asked some general questions about it to show interest. My dad said what do u want for it, he said "Ive had it professionally appraised i know what its worth you just give me a price...So what probably happened he screwed some little old lady/man and trying to get top dollar out of something. I hate people that do that...it annoys me..sorry for the rant its just not fair for someone to do that

Re: truck rant

are you screwing the little old man over, if you give him every bit his asking price?
So it is in fact a 2 owner truck, not one owner... or has the seller never put it in his name... meaning it isn't his vehicle to sell...
I know they are cracking down on that here in franklin county...if it isn't YOUR name, then YOU can't sell it.

Re: truck rant

I think some are missing the boat. There are many on this site who would buy a truck like this but not try and get Barret Jackson $$$ type profit when selling it. The sign read make offers so I called and asked a few questions and asked what he wanted for the truck. He said "I'm taking offers but I've had it professionally appraised." He said he didn't know if it had 37,000 miles or 137,000 (but it was a one owner truck ) but looking at all the oil covering on the engine I would guess 137,000 miles...but a very nice looking 137,000 mile truck. I can honestly say I am not in this hobby to flip trucks or parts for fast bucks. I believe most members of this site have the same attitude towards wheeling and dealing. There is a difference between a fair profit and a "take advantage" profit. That is what sets this site apart from many other sites. It's the people. I believe 70cstjr was a little ticked with the attitude of the seller. JMHO Would 70cstjr buy a truck at a really good deal and then try and make a big bundle? If I taught him like I think I have the answer is no.

Re: truck rant

i guess the thread i wrote didnt sound the best...I WOULD NOT RESELL IT if i got it for cheap..i would be tickled pink and restore it. I know someone can ask any price they want. What made me upset was they guy bought the truck cheap of the original owner and not to fix up to make his own but to try to make a profit. and not a normal profit an inflated profit. When someone says i dont have a price but its been professionally apraised they are knowingly trying to pull the wool over someones eyes..we have all seen those trucks on ebay and craigslist that people have put outragous amounts of dollar signs trying to sell. I guess i just we lived in a society were ur brother or neighbor isnt gonna try to stick it to your pocket book just because they have watched one to many car auctions..idk...im just rambling thats just the way i feel.. i am also sorry for the ones i offended if any. oh well end rant thank you
