TH350 or 350C?
My truck originally came with a 350C.. and I was thinking that with todays gas prices the way they are, it might get a little better MPG with the overdrive. With the 350 in my truck now(.030 over, Edelbrock cam, intake, flattops and long tube headers), I was wondering if it's possible, or feasible to build a TH350C to handle the power(and future power) this engine will make.. or just stick with the TH350 in it and just deal with it without the overdrive?

Swap the converter. You don't need an electronic TH350C to lock a converter. You can add an aftermarket stall converter. Depending on power, lock it below cruising speed RPM. A stock or slightly modified engine should have a range of 1800-2000 RPMs. I had one on my old 305. Worked great. You can find decent torque converters for about $150 and up.

So I can throw in a converter and make it act like an overdrive? Or can I performance build a 350C and it'll be tough enough to take the 500+ hp I will have under the hood? |
