Adding power steering to a 292, what are my options?
I want to add power steering to my 67 with a 6 cylinder 292 and was wondering what my options are for power steering brackets, pumps, pulley, and gearboxes? What years can I get the brackets and pulleys from? What are my options for gearboxes? What pump should I use? Anything I need to know before doing the PS upgrade?
Thanks for the help!

You are about to embark on a journey many do not have the fortitude for.Your biggest hurdle will be finding a set of PS pump brackets. You will need the brackets to match your engine(292 integrated or non-integrated head)They will be harder to find than almost any others. You can use up to 87 I believe(someone correct me if I'm wrong) and the matching pump and steering box.If you can find all of it on one truck to match you will probably be able to use the hoses also.IDK about the 292 but the 250 came as an integrated head unit in later models and that set of brackets will not fit the non-integrated head motor.Use the idler arm from the same vehicle as the steering box and pitman arm. When you get brackets don't forget to get the pulleys also.IIRC all 6 cyl used the same water pump legnth so that should not be an issue.
All this info is from years of reading this BB since I have not done it to a 292.

Everything that Panel said is correct except, I believe the last year you can use is 1986. Try to get all of your brackets for the pump and gear box from the same truck..... Good luck on the hunt,,, its the hardest engine to get A/C brackets and power steering brackets for,,,,,, so if you find the A/C brackets get them all so..................

I've considered adding a new smaller pump with a remote reservoir. Might be easier to fab up brackets.
