steering column swap

my 78 has a 3 speed on the column in it now, im going to be swaping in a th350 here soon. i have a auto tilt column out of a 82 silverado, my question is will i be able to take the 78's column out and just plug in the 82 column and my turnsignals and all that jazz still work. or are they not compatible? if not i can make the 78 column work, but i would like the 82's better. thanks fellas

Re: steering column swap

Direct swap! I can't think of anything on why it would not. Only a 84 and new column would have different options. Cruise control might be an issue if you want to connect it.

Re: steering column swap

worst case scenario you would have to swap out the turn signal switch and you may have to swap the bottom part of the column too but it should go in easy enough
