Cool Allow me to introduce myself... with pics

I've been a fan of 67-72 trucks practically all my life. My grandfather had one and since I was young, I was hooked.

About a month and a half ago, I finally got a chance to get one for myself. It is a 1972 Chevy C-20 Long bed with a 350 engine and I think 350 transmission, p/s, p/b, and a/c(but previous owner took it out). I always wanted a short bed, but this one's grown on me.

Since I bought it, I've blacked out the windows, blacked out the grill and Chevy emblem, added seat belts, and added led bulbs on tail lights & parking lights(just to make sure the lenses stay clear). I've also made plates to block the holes in the cab where the a/c went.

I have lots of plans for it for the future, and I appreciate all the knowledge and input everyone has to offer here. Hopefully, I can contribute something as well in the future.

And now, the pics:

Cool truck! Welcome to the board. A buddy of mine has those wheels on an '06 C2500 Duramax truck. That's an interesting twist with a lowered 8 lug truck!

WELCOME

join the LWB club....we dont have many out there. LOL (MODS we need a LWB CLUB by the way)

(I wanted a short bed too...but now my goal is to have a great LWB truck...I want people to not even notice that its a Long Bed untill they stare at it. If that makes sense)

Good luck with the truck...everyone on here is the coolest.

Thanks

67_c30 Thats one thing I liked about the truck when I first saw it. Even though there aren't many choices for 8 lug wheels, I think the previous owner got it right...... for now

Spray bomb Cant wait to see the 77 when its done

Jcentsr6 on the long bed club. Theres nothing wrong with being big & beautiful

There's a few things I want to do, but just gotta wait for the funds. I want to paint the truck, because the current flat black paint on it is cracking a bit on the hood, add bucket seats with a custom center console and sound system(since the dash is already cut), relocate the gas tank under the bed, add headers(still debating because it is loud as is with the 40 series flowmasters and pipes exiting out the side), install sport mirrors, and whatever else I can daydream about.

Sounds like a plan. Be sure to start yourself a build thread so we can keep up with it.

Yep, same here. Do you know how it was lowered? I pretty much gave up on the lowering idea with my C20 and got some 16.5" wheels. Someday I won't be able to get tires for the rims...so I'd like to keep the lowering plan on the back burner.

Nice truck!

Nice ride. I just picked up a long fleetside C10 and am going to do satin black like yours, until I can do a real paint job.

Nice truck ! Do you know how it was lowered ? I have a 72 3/4 ton and would like to know if there is a kit or how he did it. Thanks
May I recommend Hooker Competition headers since youre considering putting some in. I have Hookers with flowmaster 40's and 2 1/2 pipes and it sounds sweet !

Re: Allow me to introduce myself... with pics

Thanks everyone.

The bed cover was made by the previous owner. It is just an aluminum frame wrapped in vinyl with bungees holding it down.

As far as the drop, I know he did it with springs, but don't know if he used anything else, or what springs he used. I will get in contact with the previous owner tomorrow and let you guys know. I can't be the only c-20 scraping speed bumps.

I'm sure you're not the only one, but there aren't that many around. If your's is a coil spring 3/4 ton, regular ECE, CPP, etc. drop springs are probably what they are.

Very sweet looking truck!!!! love the pic of the side view all blacked out with alittle chrome. te body looks like its pretty straight as it is now, any rust spots that you have noticed? all you need now is a rear chrome bumper.
