Air Ride Driveshaft Ques..
I have a 1968 SWB Truck.. I have it down to the frame and i plan to put a step notch in the rear very soon. I am close to being able to bolt the cab back on but I have some questions regarding the driveshaft. i currently plan to run 22's in the rear and 20's up front and put some bags all the way around. I know ideally I should put a double driveshaft or a 2-piece whatever you call them. I want to see how low i can go with keeping the stock driveshaft and just modifying the current crossmember. If I put a new driveshaft loop in how much taller do I need to go? I dont mind tunnel the floor some if i need to but would rather not. I know i could buy a cpp crossmember for around 200 bucks but since i will be welding stuff in the rear I figure i would save some money and just weld in a new driveshaft loop.
Any help would be appreciated--pictures-- concerns withdoing it this way-- really anything because i am new to the air ride scene. Thanks in advance.

If you go one piece, there's some pretty extensive cab floor/back wall trimming to do. Also, if you need some good information on split driveshafts and how to set them up, try this link: http://www.airridetalk.com/articles/...nt-enigma.html

Re: Air Ride Driveshaft Ques..
I think I plan to run a 265/35/22 tire.. 29.3 inches.. I dont really care about laying frame but I would like to get it a few inches from the ground. I am planning on some day putting in the engine crossmember I think you guys sell but not right away and I think laying frame will look goofy without getting the front low.. I want a bit of a rake with the front lower than the rear but I also want the rear 22's to tuck.. I am going t o run 20's in the front. i actually plan to do the engine crossmember and rack and pinion after I rag out the current 350 that is in it now. I then plan to put in a ls1 when so i can do it all at once.. I just want to figure out the best way to do the driveshaft. Thanks for any help.

Re: Air Ride Driveshaft Ques..
I'm running the stock driveshaft but only have the bolt-in c-notch. Any lower than that, and I think you'd need to modify the "driveshaft loop" portion of the center cross member. Or go with one of these http://www.earlyclassic.com/ProductI...02-6372TAX.jpg

Re: Air Ride Driveshaft Ques..
Cut the top out, set the truck where it'll be aired out, build a new hoop to clear the DS. I have better pics than this somewhere in my build thread:

Re: Air Ride Driveshaft Ques..
That pic is exactly what i was looking for.. is there anyway you would know the distance from or heigth of the loop.. I am having a friend come weld some stuff on the truck and when he comes I wont have my airbags yet.. I would like to get this built so I can get my cab back on so then I can mock it up with the cab on. Anyway I will look at your build thread and thanks for the help.

Re: Air Ride Driveshaft Ques..
Since from what i've read, every truck sits slightly differently when aired out, you would really need to try to have the bags in before attempting that. I'd hate to see you do it only to have it be off by 1/2" or something and have to be redone.
