Re: gauge cluster lighting

Yes, my 1966 GMC cluster has twist in bulb holders on the back of the cluster that light up each individual guage. When you untwist the holder, you find a push in bulb that illuminates each guage. A lot of the holders in my cluster were broken. I found new ones in the electrical section at Autozone.

The other thing that sometimes goes bad on the GMC clusters is the printed circuit board on the back of the cluster. The plastic that holds the copper strips on the board often deteriorates.

I hope this is helpful.

Re: gauge cluster lighting

If all instrument lights are out, check your tail light circuit fuse. You may be without rear running lights- it's the same circuit as the instruments.

Re: gauge cluster lighting

tails work. May just be the wiring job the PO did. The gauges seem to not work either, the speedo kind of bounces back and forth from 0-10mph, granted I havnt gone faster than that yet in the truck... I've also come to the realization that I basically need, a complete new bed, and basically all new paneling in the front, and new doors, and cab corner patch panels, andddd some floor panels.. ahhhh... at least Im not restoring it haha.
