need help choosing tires!!

Well it's time to purchase tires for my truck, 1974 C10 2wd. It has a stout 350 and I like to have fun with it. It's basically just a hot rod, I only drive it during the spring, summer and fall. However, it does see some rain, but only if I get stuck out in it. Right now it has a set of BFgood's T/A 295/50R15 on it that are about toast. Mileage isn't a huge concern b/c I don't put a huge # of miles on it, but I don't want to have to replace them after a year or two. After crunching some numbers it looks like within the past year I have driven the truck about 6000 miles.

So I was wondering what you guys thought. Summit Racing is pretty close to me, so I was probably going to buy from them...but after looking through their website there isn't a huge selection in the 295 size...
I was thinking...

Cooper Cobra T/A

Mickey Thompson Sportman S/R

Mickey Thompson Indy Profile

Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials

BFGoodrich g-force T/A drag radials

Nitto NT555R drag radials

Does anyone have any experience with any of these? I think I'm leaning toward the g-force's but I'm not sure...

Thanks for all your help guys!

Re: need help choosing tires!!

I had the cooper cobra T/As on my 72 that i sold, and they were pretty nice tires, but i didnt really like the way they looked, of course they weren't 295's. For regular driving in rain or whatnot, they gripped really well, but u could still have fun and spin em if u felt like it...

Re: need help choosing tires!!

I run the BFG drag radials in a 315/35/17 on my camaro. They hook really well, but plan on getting no more than 3-5k miles out of a set. Also had the m/t drags, they hook even better but wear quicker than the bfg. If you're looking for a tire that you're not going to be replacing every few thousand miles, the only real good choice in a drag radial is the Nitto. They hook pretty good on the street and I've seen guys get ~8k miles out of a set. If you want more mileage than that, stay with a street tire like the Cooper.
