Can't be this easy

I have a 67 Chevy swb frame and a 71 GMC that is going to do a body and disc brake swap onto it. To change the rear end to use my 5 lug 12 bolt spring set up, would I just remove the trailing arm set up and directly swap my leaf set up? Any help is appreciated I just want to see if this idea is even worth the time to attempt.

Re: Can't be this easy

You dont have to remove the trailing arm cross member, just unbolt the trailing arms from it
As for the spring perches, I really dont know if the holes are there or not

But my question for you is, why not just cut the spring perches of & swap them from axle to axle & save a lot of work ???
Not to mention still having trailing arm suspension, which IMO is better

Re: Can't be this easy

I think you are right on the easier part the problem is I want it to look correct even though I am using a Chevy frame on a GMC. There were a few with the coils out there but I don't want people to mentally start shreading the truck when they see it because of the coils. Hell I may be being too anal I don't know. Thanks for the help again it really is appreciated I am getting close to crunch time and have to start making decisions on the direction to take this build quickly.

Re: Can't be this easy

Well if it makes your decision any easier, its easier to run exhaust all the way out the back on a leaf sprung truck

But I like the ride & traction of the trailing arms better... Plus its easier to bag
