Truck got broken into!!!!!

My truck got broken into the past two nights! The first night they took all of my breakdown tools as well as everything that was in the glovebox, my sunglasses, and my brand new nice plug wires. Today I installed a new vacuum advance so I could get my brand new 350 timed right and upon key-turn... NOTHING. Last night they stole my braided hose, and tried to hotwire my truck!!!! I don't think they thought about how loud my truck is (built 350, hooker longtubes, 12 inch flanges into dual cherry bombs dumped right behind the cab), or the fact that they most likely thought my truck was an auto due to the lack of a floor shift (its a 3 on the tree). I'm gonna install an alarm in it tomorrow so wish me better luck than I've been having thus far this week!

Re: Truck got broken into!!!!!

Sorry, but not just in CA, you go to jail for almost anything that other bad people do. Its backwards these days.

Got to take anything that isn't nailed down and sound systems out before leaving it to the er, devils. Never have a sound system visible in the stock location or at all!

I just leave my truck unlocked with nothing in it. Not even carpet. 2 years, no problems. But I've been to Bakersfield. Not the same

BTW: I lived in SO CAL in the late 80's... It was a pretty great place to be. I hope its still the same (well a good place anyway) today. That's a CA compliment because it doesn't get too many these days.

Re: Truck got broken into!!!!!

We have those 'Maggots' roaming the streets over here too. Never had a problem with my truck, but cars in the area are always being broken into. Think it,s mainly kids looking for cash, cd,s, radio,s and anything else they can sell. If they get caught it's normally just a slapped wrist.

I think dead beats like that should be tracked down like a dog, and beaten within an inch of their lives. Maybe then they’d think twice about messing with other peoples stuff. If you hadn’t guessed that kind of thing pisses me off.

Third stike rule in cali right. Shotgun with slugs! If you going to take the time to wait for the scumbags, fix the problem when they show up and shoot to kill! Its legal to protect your property with deadly physical force.(add smilie face with shotgun here)

Re: Truck got broken into!!!!!

Man that sucks!!! Damn thieves... We've got the same problem here too. In fact, Surrey BC was the car theft capital of North America for a few years. Folks were so pissed off that the cops had to do something. So they starting using "Bait cars", which are desirable for theft. Except that the car has GPS/cameras/remote disable. So, the cops wait for the car to be stolen and then follow the car and disable it. Car coasts to a stop and the bad guys are locked inside.

Myself, I leave nothing in my truck and don't even bother to lock the doors. I figure if the scumbag is going to break the window to steal a CD, I'd rather they just took the CD and didn't leave me having to fix my broken window.

I think one possible answer is to bring back stocks. If you get caught, then you're locked up in stocks for a month in front of town hall. Oh, and if other people happen to throw stuff at you while you're there, well that's just too bad. Maybe one day for each $1,000...

Re: Truck got broken into!!!!!

The only reason these people steal is because they know there are no consequences. Our society has gotten to the point where a lot of people get away with crime all their life, and sometimes are even rewarded for it. A hundred years ago, you could have shot the guy. Unfortunately, times have changed.

Re: Truck got broken into!!!!!

Sibiki rig.

That’s how I nailed a "tweeker" that kept getting into my truck last summer.

Buy a kid’s fishing pole (a short - plastic one, about four feet long) and put one of these bait-catching rigs on it, with about a 1 ounce sinker. Lay it on the hump and point the tip under the steering column.

DON’T FORGET IT’S THERE! Especially when you get ready to go to work in the morning!

Once the idiot jumps in he’ll hit 12 micro-hooks that are the sharpest devices on the planet. The pole will jump and make more of them sink into his nasty carcass, especially with the sinker on the end of the line!

Worked for me on the GMC I had last year and I found the little pole down around the corner the next morning, with little bloody hunks of flesh and hair hanging from the hooks. I am from CA too and there’s nothing in the penal code about leaving your kid’s fishing pole in the cab of your truck over-night.

Re: Truck got broken into!!!!!

sucks to hear about your truck. and salt rock does the trick when your out in the booneys. a lot of farmers/country guys use it when "kids" start messing around on there property. that fishing pole trick seems like itd do the job. hate to clean it up tho.

Hey Mac,
I can't quite figure out how that rig would work, can you explain more or do a picture or drawing? I'm sorry for the break-ins and share almost all opinions on how disgusting it is.

Well basically, these are a micro-hook rig that you buy in a cellophane package that comes from Japan. Every Wal-Mart has them, for about $5.00.

They’re used for catching bait and have little florescent feathers attached to attract the little fish. Some have 8 hooks - some have 12. They are so sharp they don’t even seem real.

The really small ones are about an 1/8 inch across and when we use them on the boat you have to be really careful, because if you happen to brush up against them - you’re done. Once the little barbs are down under your skin you’re going to loose a ‘plug’ of your tissue getting them out. I’ve seen guys sink them in so deep they’ve had to cut the hook shank off and with tweezers - push the barb of the hook on around and out of their fingers.

Not a good scene.
