I just ordered a Hurst Shifter for my NV3500 in my 70 chevy from Spider Performance. Here is info and a picture

CK truck short shifter by Hurst manual shifters. The Hurst CK truck shifter features a high ratio pivot mechanism for 30% reduced knob travel. Adjustable bias spring loads allow stick tension to be tailored for the driver's preference. Adjustable stops that prevent over-travel. Easy installation with no vehicle modifications. The Hurst CK truck short shifter provides quicker, more positive shifts. The picture shows the CK truck short shifter.

I am hoping that it just bolts in but we will see, you never know when dealing with new truck parts on old trucks. The guy on the phone had one in his 93 truck and was pretty sure it would fit. The NV3500 boot and shift handle installed into my truck with no alterations. I get the kit next Wednsday, I will post how it goes.

You will absolutely love that shifter! Just be careful with it as the shifter makes the trans easy to want to speed shift and the NV3500 isn’t exactly the strongest piece on the world. My stock 1998 Z71 ate two of them within 50,000 miles.

tdave00, I pulled my NV3500 out of a 1992 1/2 ton Chevy. The hardest part was installing the clutch slave cylinder. But even that was not all that bad. You have to shorten your driveshaft length a bit. For a trany cross member I used a piece of c channel. I will see if I have any pics.

Pictures of the install. Removed the original shifter with a philips screwdriver, 15/16 wrench, and a 10mm socket. It came out no problem, just the way I like it.

I then cleaned up the shifter mounting area with a clean rag. Unbolted the shifter handle to make it easier to work with. Installed new gasket supplied in the kit and bolted it back down with the original 4 10mm bolts. Then placed a rubber spacer in-between the shifter and shifter handle and bolted her back together.

Drilled pilot holes for the new boot and screwwed her down (I only had two screws holding in the original boot). And here is the final result. I should have taken the picture after I vacuumed and cleaned out the interior but got a little ahead of my self.

My father’s day gift from my wife came in handy during the install. Took the truck out fro a spin and was very impressed in the tighter shifting points.

sorry for the newb question.. but speed shifting is: shifting gears without lifting the throttle? or is it pushing the clutch pedal just enough to disengage, and shifting quickly? thanks!

Technically speed shifting (or bangin' gears) is shifting without the clutch. In this case anything but easy smooth granny like shifting can break an NV3500, so this was more of a cuation to not try to "race" with this trans. I got mine with a sheered roll pin, my builder said it was from trying to race (slamming 2nd gear).

Don't suppose you still have that old shift handle laying around anywhere after two years? I need something for a NV3500 install I'm doing. Also, what clutch master cylinder did you use? Looks like a very nice and clean install
