Re: Kentucky Burban is this realy a build thread?

OK it's been 5 months and not any significant progress, 121 different direction changes....LOL and well the only thing that is Done are the Brakes. So... Added to this which I don't have pictures of is both mirrors were removed from the doors and holes welded and filled. Waiting to be installed is a Chrome 61 grill, door weather strips and felts, Vent windows are already done. Lots of paint work..

I know it's not a frame off, I bought this in Aug of 07 From Idaho, 42999 original miles, we have fabed and installed rear floor mounts. Found some 60-61 custom windshield trim for when the glass goes back in. Custom steering wheel and horn ring.

But I know that you all have seen bit and pieces of this on here but I never put up a build thread cause it's not really a build...

However, see what working midnights for 20 years will do to a guy...

Isn't it amazing how little projects tend to snowball? The upside is that it will be a lot nicer when you get done. I especially like the way that inliner is looking. Keep it up!

Love the look on that inline-6! Is that a 292 or??? It's awesome to see engines that normally get tossed aside all dressed up. Keep up the awesome work man!!

Re: Kentucky Burban is this realy a build thread?

Yeah, as TimE says..........snowballin' at its best! I have been bagging mine since Feb and its still not done.........re-doing P/O brake lines, re-doing fuel lines, fabbing up little stuff, and at least 6 trips to the hardware store every weekend.

If I send you some copy paper, can I get a few sheets of those 20's?

Re: Kentucky Burban is this realy a build thread?

Yeah it's a 235 But original with low miles so why not run it till it drops and well with Gas I'm hopeful that milage will be better than a small block.... I'm not expecting it though..

All good things in time.... Once this one goes.... I'm actually considering going with a conventional V6 It's not a race car... Just to cool to run around in..

Send the sheets of paper and I'll make you some copies... only cost ya $30 bucks per copy... I got to pay for this some how...

Re: Kentucky Burban is this realy a build thread?

Sal, It will be a day or so before I get over to the shop. Post #6 this thread gives the best pic's I have at the moment. Here is basically what I see that was different than normal master cylinder mount.

1) First off the mount to the firewall is made out of what looks to be 1/8" plate it is bolted to the firewall, the the power booster is mounted to the plate & firewall. The difference here is in the Power booster mounting bracket it's about twice as heavy as a normal mount bracket because it's footprint is smaller. This allows the hyd clutch cylinder to be mounted in it's original location.

2) Prior to this I actually considered making my own bracket. My Thoughts were actually make the Power booster bracket wider than normal and from the pictures making the passsengers side of the bracket mount farther over toward the center of the firewall just enough to allow me to use an after market HYD Clutch master in the original location.
The Booster bracket would basically have been a big U shape with the Brake booster mounted off to the drivers side of the center of the bracket.

I ended up buying the CPP brake/clutch set up. It was more of a convienence thing. I work midnights 5 days a week and it just worked out better for me.

I don't see after looking at it why it could not be done in a home shop without spending much cash. I will Get some better pics and some measurements But it will likely be over the weekend. PM me your e-mail and I'll post both here and shoot you an e-mail.

It truely was best thing i've done. I considred going to a manual clutch. This is WAY better.....

Regards....
