I agree! It's a terrible thing to happen to anyone. I lost my home and everything I owned, as well as a very pristine '68 GMC pickup in a tornado here in Kansas in 1991, and I hope I never have to go through anything like that again. I can honestly say I know what those people are going through, and words cannot express what a person has to deal with when something like this happens. I learned the true value of family, friends, and community following that terrible day, and how lucky I was to have all three. And then I later learned that FEMA exists (like most other government agencies) to create paychecks for its' employees, and not much else. FEMA is almost as inept and worthless as the INS, but as we all know, no gov't agency could ever match the lowly record of the INS. Oops, sorry, didn't mean to get political, my personal feelings got away from me for a minute there. My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by these latest storms!

I know it amazing how crazy the weather has been. Even though I am in the Navy I tend to agree with on some points you made there about FEMA. But like you said there can be no value placed on friends and family.

I have family up in north west Ohio, and they got hit pretty bad...winds gusting to 100MPH from what I understand.
Here in Columbus, we had gusts up to 70MPH, and I have never see the trees bend like that except the hurricane I was in while I was in Korea in '99. Wild stuff...I'm tellin you...esp in NOVEMBER! |

There is an exception to your govt. agency commet. If every govt. agency were to be compaared the one that does the best job of fullfilling it's function would be the IRS. All others are only there to keep us from supporting their employees on welfare.
