Another request for Dark red trucks....please.
I am doing a pretty simple build on the '68 stepside. Usually I go to dealers and look at their paint selection, but it seems that they all have metal flake or pearl coat. Since the truck will have minimal bling (regular ralleys, lettered tires, chrome bumpers, window trim, no hood trim) and their isn't any real side trim on stepsides, I would like to find a nice dark red that doesn't have any flake or pearl to it. I would like to see some dark reds or even maroons that don't look purple. I know it is a tall order, but I'm hoping you guys may have some, with paint name hopefully.
Thanks! Shawn

Re: Another request for Dark red trucks....please.
I did the same thing you have been doing to pick the last color and have pretty well done it for the next.
Most of the great "new car" colors seem to have metallic or pearl in them though. You might check the "big" truck color charts as stock colors for the semis tend to be non metallic. I've always liked to check out colors in various conditions, Bright sunlight, under street lights and under the lights inside of a building if I can. |

Re: Another request for Dark red trucks....please.
Shawn,
Here's 2 68' Stepsides that I found in Google Images. The 1st 1 is painted Cherry Red and trimmed out almost as you described above. The second truck is color unknown but includes painted bumpers and grille hoops. Hope this helps. ![]() ![]()
