Barn find..or Should I say garage find

Ok I get this call this morning and this guy is telling me he needs to get rid of a project in his garage and has no time or money for it anymore. Wont tell me what it is...but asks me to come look at it. The most he would tell me it was an old Pontiac. I am not sure what it would be and curiosity was getting the best of me. So I went out to look at this Pontiac. I walk into this garage....and there is sat...66 GTO! NO FREAKIN WAY! The guy tells me it needs to be gone. I had to ask why? He said his wife is tired of it just sitting there taking up space...and he he a Maserati sitting outside that he wants to keep.

Ok the GTO isnt all that guys. It need lots of work...I do mean lots. Motor and the Muncie rock crusher has been rebuilt. The 389 is perfect. New doghouse. The body has rust everywhere...and someone attempted to fix it. I am getting it out of there Sunday. For the low low price of zero. Yes it has a title and keys.

sweet deal.
What dog house are you talking about... I've only heard of a doghouse being the engine cover in a van... on the inside of the passenger compartment.

Blame my dad for that Andy. He always called the front end the dog house. The inner fenders...fenders...hood and so forth.

I will get more detailed pics of it once it is here Sunday. I am still kinda in shock...wasnt expecting it at all. It needs alot. He has all the parts in bags...the one thing he doesnt have is the windshield. The is alot of body work that is needed on it.

Front clip. Dude that car sucks. It would sit nicely next to my 67 lark. Misery loves company. Give me a phone nuber and I'll spare you the headaches.

The Maserati is in alot better shape. I have to go thru the GTO with a fine tooth comb and fix the rust and stuff like that. It still about $10k away from being done. The Maserati...maybe $5k.

I get rid of anything...it wont be this car. Been looking to get another GTO for a longtime now. It would look nice sitting next to your lark...bring it down here and leave it next to the GTO!

Between this and the Monte in your other post, you are livin' the life!! I know an old GTO is worth it's weight in gold bars, so if you ever decide to sell it I'd guess you could make a bit of change on that!! BTW I have always called the clip a dog house as well, maybe a back east thing?? I am OG PA!!

GTO, Monte SS, Vega, 2 69 Chevy trucks....been paying on a 72 Demon. Oh I forgot...a 54 Chevy truck that I have no idea what I am going to do with...its sitting at a friends house too.

Yeah maybe that why. My dad always said when I was taking cars apart...just unbolt the dog house all in one piece boy!

It looks like the unrestored version of the GTO in the xXx movies with Vin Diesel.

Cool price, but it's gonna be a wallet suckin' fool - if I had it, though, that's definitely where I would focus my funds. Nice find.

Re: Barn find..or Should I say garage find

Nice score. If it was me, I would probably start selling off all of the other projects and get started on this one. In the end it will be worth way more and if you don't get started on it, it will rust away into a pile of nothingness. You have to be running out of room. And I would definitely only store that GTO inside, or you may come home one day and find it missing parts, or missing all together. Make the G/F happy. Sell the rest of the cars and focus on this thing. Then you can cruise in style together. Then get you another project after she sees you can complete one. Of course keep the truck.. you have to have a parts hauler right JMHO.
