Go for a ride in a ZR1!
This will probably get moved......BUT, what's it gonna take to get this motor in my 72??!!!!.........besides lots or $$$$$$.
If the word "bad ass" was in Websters, you would see a picture of a ZR1.

Sacto,
You pretty much hit the nail on the head. As the old saying goes, "The only substitute for for cubic inches is cubic dollars." Jim Mero is a GM engineer, talented to be sure; but I have to wonder how somebody, say, like Boris Said would do? thanks for the post. El Jay

Re: Go for a ride in a ZR1!
That's cool. I heard GM was seen testing that car on some of the toughest of the worlds road coarses and laying down some killer times. Heard they laid down a challenge to any manufacturer on on any road coarse. Pretty awesome car.

Re: Go for a ride in a ZR1!
That video is sick. I have seen it on another site already. The Nurburing has become the benchmark track to test supercars at. What is scary is that was on street tires, and besides safety equipment, just like it will be off the showroom floor. He wasn't full out either, there is still more in the car.

Re: Go for a ride in a ZR1!
The new Cadillac CTS-V has the similar supercharged engine as the ZR1 (detuned) check it out on the Cadillac site. Nice engines with the supercharger!!! Unreal how they tear it up.

I played too much gran turisimo when I was younger. I actually knew the turns thru the nuremberg ring. Sweet car. No telling what I would give to SIT in one. Much less drive it.

Re: Go for a ride in a ZR1!
You can buy a LS-9 crate motor. I think they go for 23 or 24 grand. Of course you might need to up grade the rest of your drive train as well. then you need some better brakes. And some fat sticky tires, some tricked out suspension etc. Might be cheaper to get a second mortgage and buy a ZR-1. Then you got insurance, tickets, lawyers, bail, fines, courtcosts, bla, bla, bla. Guess I'll stick with my 350.

Re: Go for a ride in a ZR1!
The Zr1 ls9 was put in a camaro or something I think in HOTROD magazine, project Jackass. it made 703 hp in stock form its rated at 638. thats badass! It idles like a kitten though. Imagine what a cam and some even better flowing heads would do!

Awesome ride. The LS9 is unreal. And the brakes aren't bad either!
