Lets see your exhaust exit locations!
OK- so I just finished up my 5" flip in the rear of my 81 c10 SB. I have the bed off and Im doing some frame detailing (POR15), when I thought that maybe I should do something with my exhaust. Its a custom 3", exiting passenger side. Its still in decent shape, but I really think duals would match the lowered look a little better. Any thoughts?
Heres my ideas: I dont really want to have it too loud in the cab- I want to be able to actually talk, or use my cell while driving. So that pretty much rules out short turn downs under the cab. But I like the look of the ones that exit before the wheels, will they be all that loud??? One of my options is just dualing the 3" near the end and welding on 2 slat cut tips, that would look pretty wicked. Also, SHOW ME YOUR SETUPS! Pics are greatly appreciated! I am going to bring mine out behind the passenger rear tire at an angle with some double wall stainless 04-06 gto tips. It should look good

Re: Lets see your exhaust exit locations!
I turned mine down at the rear. It's a SI/SO flowmaster with 2.5". Nice inside the cab, and rumbles when romped outside.

n2trux,
Did you do that? If not, who, and kit or custom?

Re: Lets see your exhaust exit locations!
N2trux,
Did you turn them down before or after the rear differential? Also, is that a hose line touching the exhaust in the last pic? Shawn

Re: Lets see your exhaust exit locations!
Hey n2trux, od you have shorty headers or stock exhaust manifolds?? Nice work routing the exhaust under the oil pan- must be great for your lowered setup!
What about squishing a regular exhaust tube down to a rectangular shape to give a little more clearance under the tranny and/or pan?? Anyone ever heard of this? |

Click the link in his sig and you shall find the answers you need...
For those who are wondering, mine dumps in the stock location and was tucked up as close to the body as possible to hide it. It's a single 2.5" system sporting a Flowmaster Super44. Mine was one of the first trucks in the country to sport the Super44.

I have seen a company advertising in car magazines that sells a line of squished tubing, curves, and mufflers like that. EDIT: Here it is: http://www.drgas.com/development/catalog.php?catid=3 Slonaker Last edited by Slonaker; 07-17-2008 at 03:22 PM. |

Even the NOS 69 chevelle pipes i have, still have GM stickers on them, are somewhat flattened to clear the floor board. As long as it doesn't inhibit the flow, meaning keeping the same amount of flow, i wouldn't see what it would hurt.

Re: Lets see your exhaust exit locations!
On my '87, a just had a custom exhaust from the Dynomax 3" headers back to turbos and out behind the back wheels. Nice and throaty but not too loud.
