Okay - Who’s Your Carb Source?

Ran across this outfit:

http://www.carburetor.ca/carbs/HTML/sitemap.htm

Chevrolet / Passenger / Chevelle /7080 / 283: $149.00(with exchange/core) Rochester 2-barrel (this is for the engine that’s going in my C10 truck.)

Any ideas?

Re: Okay - Who’s Your Carb Source?

I've used them for carb kits but not for an entire carb. The kits were good quality (imo) and the purchase was smooth. Not sure if this helps or not.

It does. I've got a back-up unit from my Blue Car, but it hasn't run on an engine in two years. Should learn how to do my own rebuilding, but I'm to busy (lazy).

Re: Okay - Who’s Your Carb Source?

I just bought a rebuilt 2G from "carblady" on evilbay for $100. I'm real happy, though I had to install a choke plate and it didn't come with a fuel filter preinstalled. The rest was A1 and the engine runs great with it straight out of the box.

I bought the kit and did a partial rebuild..not much in there. Fuel bowl was a mud bath, needle valve kept stickin' open and flooding out.

Re: Okay - Who’s Your Carb Source?

Does anyone have any extra throttle linkage pieces for sale? Looking specifically for that six inch long piece that bolts to the top/left (looking forward) of the automatic transmission case, pivoting the pedal movement up and over the intake manifold. This is a stamped sheet metal piece with two holes running through it with a rod attached.

Re: Okay - Who’s Your Carb Source?

Technical questions connected with the ‘283’s 2-barrel: What is the actual name of the little spring assembly, under the sheet metal cover, embedded in the intake manifold that operates the automatic choke? Do they make replacements for it - or is it best to convert to a manual choke set-up?

Re: Okay - Who’s Your Carb Source?

If you can't buy one new, try the wrecking yards that have some 60's to 70's cars in there. Might have to come up to the Inland Empire to find it.

Re: Okay - Who’s Your Carb Source?

Picking up my 2-Barrel Rochester from the carburator re-builder later on today.

Want to do away with the automatic choke routine and convert it to a manual cable. The vendor says I just need that little triangle (stamped) piece that bolts to the corner (just like on the old one barrels) and just hook it to the choke butterfly assembly, but was zero help in locating such an animal.

Does anybody have an idea of a site I can go to purchase this item/assembly?

All the local suppliers just groan and shrug their shoulders.

Re: Okay - Who’s Your Carb Source?

Might check JC Whitney too. They may have a manual choke kit still available in the catalogue.
Somewhere I ran across a picture of the bracket for the manual choke on the site here, just can't remember where.
