I have the opportunity to purchase a sway bar setup from an 86 c10. I have to take it off myself and wanted to know if all I needed were some basic sockets and a good ratchet? Everything is just bolted, correct?

The sway bar bushings (4 of them) do all bolt on. However, the two inner bushings bolt to brackets which are riveted to the frame. You can buy new brackets and bolt them to your truck, but that's extra money if you can get the originals off the donor truck. I've heard that a good cold chisel will work if you don't have a grider or air chisel.

I was able to talk the yard into torching the inner brackets off sections of the frame. Got the whole set-up for $40, new poly bushings $20, grade 8 hardware $5. From there it bolts right in, the holes are already on your control arms and frame.

Is your truck lowered? If so you dont really need the front brackets that are riveted on. Just drill some holes in the bottom of your frame horns and gain the extra clearance. See my pic in THIS thread.

I plan on lowering it 2.5'' in the front in the near future. It is stock height now.
