Re: where can i get a good disc brake conversion kit?

Most of the board vendors carry them I think. Look under the Vendors section here. I got mine from ECE. Just got finished installing it, but haven't had time to check it out b/c my rear suspension is apart atm. Went on real easy.

I got my front end disc brake set from Classic Performance Products. I have not converted my rear drums. Also, Classic Industries offer both.

I ordered me some baers now. The price is really high, but I hope they're worth it.

Sounds like you had your mind made up before asking the questions about disc brakes. No matter what you buy these trucks will handle like trucks and stop like trucks. Thats what they were meant to be. Don't expect these trucks to stop and handle like a sports car. JMHO.

I almost had my mind made up, I just wanted to ask around a little more, I didn't like most of the brakes I had seen and I just got my mind stuck on the baers after looking at them some more. Sorry for any trouble

Did you buy both front and rear? Speedway sells emergency disc brake conversion for the rear 12 bolt for under $400.

No big deal...no trouble. Let us know how your breaks work out. Thats how we all learn.

Re: where can i get a good disc brake conversion kit?

If it has coils in the rear, you should know that the design is what NASCAR used on their race cars. With the proper braking, and a few suspension mods, it's gonna handle well. You know you'll have to lower it, right? Just be sure you do it correctly...with truck stuff.

Re: where can i get a good disc brake conversion kit?

I agree with ChevLoRay, I've talked to alot of guys about changing rear suspension set ups, and most of them say, why?, the 4 link is probably the best geometric set-up out there in my opinion, all you need to do is make sure the trailing arms and the rear diff are solid, I run a big block, and 12" front discs, my truck will stop pretty quick, but unless you put a Corvette suspension under there, it will always handle "like" a truck, and that's what makes it fun, isn't it, just like leaving the gas tank behind the rear seat, I know I'm gonna get arguements on that one, but it worked 40+ years ago, might not be as safe, but nowdays what is?

Re: where can i get a good disc brake conversion kit?

I ordered the pro-plus front with 6 piston calipers and 14" rotors (supposed to come out in a few weeks) and the rear track-plus with 2 piston calipers and 13" rotors. The trucks ride height will be about 5 inches and sitting on 22s rear and 20s front with a 4-link rear on airbags and about 500 to 600 hp 383 hopefully.
