Re: 1969 c10 registration
Can you find the people he got it from? You'll have to check with them to see if they have a title, then maybe they could sign it over to you after you explain the situation?

Re: 1969 c10 registration
I don't know the answer but if it was me I'd get a "bill of sale" signed by the guy you got iy from (just put $1 for sale price) and go to the local DMV and ask them. Seems like there is a form for everything.

Re: 1969 c10 registration
Here in Ohio, you would have to apply for a lost title replacement. They would contact (or at least try) the last legally registered owner. At that point, it depends upon whether they reach him or not. If so, they re-issue the tile to him....he is the legal owner! Then it is up to you and this owner how to procede. If they can't reach him, there is some kind of waiting period and application process. Basically you have to put a "Lein" against it, and after the legal time, you own it. The title is transfered to you.
Many states are easier about this......not here. |

Re: 1969 c10 registration
Slick-
get the truck ! The DMV has an application for a lost title you fill out. The truck hasnt been registered I am assuming so they will create a new identity for it. They did that for my 67. Only difference for me was that I had an old lien sale from the guy I bought it from. I just put my name on it and it all worked out. I didnt have to pay any back fees because it was out of the system for more than 6 years. (They drop it after that long) I had to get a weight certificate and they verified the VIN number on the door to the paperwork and paid the fees and everybody was happy. If it doesnt work that way, believe me there is a way to do it, I called the DMV also and it was actually helpful to do that so you know what to expect. Good luck ! If its free and you dont want it I would be more than happy to take it off your hands haha

Re: 1969 c10 registration
worst case, you can part it out and make some money for your trouble.
I wouldn't sink a penny into it till you have a title in hand personally. |
