Help... Sounds like a miss.

Okay, about 4-5 months ago my truck was running tip-top. Then reverse went out on my TH400. Then things seemed to snowball. Somehow a spark plug holder broke while i was driving one night, 7 miles from my house, and burnt three plug wires in half. I had no choice but to limp home, considering it was 3 am in a bad area to leave the 18k$ truck. So I limp her home. The next day I replace the spark plug wires. I take one off, and replace it exactly as it should be before continuing to the next. That would be the last time it really ran like it should. From that point on, when accelerating at low rpms, it sounds like it's missing a little. It sounds like its struggling so hard to get going. Once I'm at higher rpms, I can't hear it anymore. It may be the fact that I'm turning so many rpms that its not noticeable, but I'm not sure. A few nights ago I was driving it and noticed an exhaust leak, again... so right now I have the exhaust unbolted so it would be pointless to make a video with the obnoxious straight pipes. Anyone have any ideas? I'm really hoping that its possibly just a little off timing or a wire is switched on accident. Does it sound like anything else?

Edit 1: After checking, all my wires are correct, like I thought. Is it possible that this could be caused by a foul plug or wrong gaps?

Edit 2: After checking 3 of the plugs on the left bank, most are looking fairly old and caked up. I'm going to buy a set of plugs tonight and put them in in a few days. If this doesn't work, on to the cap/rotor.

Re: Help... Sounds like a miss.

you may as well replace the cap and rotor too... with the plugs and the wires, that'd be a complete electrical tune up.

Did all the wires when they got burnt, so they have less than 1000 miles on them. They're all good. The plugs look pretty fouled on the right bank. I'm sure they fouled when all the fuel was running in and no spark. I'll replace them next week sometime. I wont be running it much until then. I have to figure out the casting number before I go pick up the stuff though.

Re: Help... Sounds like a miss.

is the wires you put back on compatible with the ones you replaced. it seems to me tha if it ran fine before and all that happen is you burnt the wires then replaceing the wires should fix it. go ahead and recheck the firing order to make sure you have not crossed the wires.

Yes, the wires are right. I'm fairly certain that its actually the plugs, I was just hoping it didn't sound like anything worse. I'm going to do the plugs/cap/rotor on Monday morning and see how things go from there.

I'm really praying that that wink didn't mean sarcasm. I don't have a tool to measure plug gap so I have to wait on my buddy to bring his by.

Re: Help... Sounds like a miss.

5 months isnt forever but bad fuel could be contributing to the fouled plugs.

ie: rust, water.

IMO: zip ties placed correctly can make a very clean and NONGrounded Wiring harness.

Re: Help... Sounds like a miss.

Well I've been running new fuel through it, it's been driven about 500 miles as is.

New plugs went in today. It helped a little but I'm still bogged down it seems like. I'll try to make a video tomorrow so you guys can hear it.

Re: Help... Sounds like a miss.

just a thought. but when you burt those wires you may have fried something in the dizzy when the wires grounded out on the manifold. could have affected the module or coil.

Cap, rotor, vacuum, and timing are next. I'm not sure if I burnt a valve or not. What would be the easiest way to check?
