Re: neighbor wants a lift
Hows it goin. First ? is....what kind of lift is it? Does it drop the control arm or install a larger knuckle. Quite a bit more work involved with a control arm drop. What is the shop asking to complete the work? I work for Les Schwab in the alignment center and have done countless lifts. For a job like that...we only charge $200 in labor...but they are also purchasing the lift from us, and we have a lift and all the tools. But I would definetely say nothing less then at least 300 for at the home lift of a ifs. .they can be a booger at times. Keep on truckin!

Re: neighbor wants a lift
i dont think its just a knuckle lift. i lloked over the directions briefly and the back is simple but on the ifs you have to change the crossmember under the engine drop down the tb crossmember yada yada yada

Re: neighbor wants a lift
Right...all of the IFS lifts have different cross braces that bolt in where the lower control arm goes and then the control arm bolts to the new cross brace. But on some...you have to lower the mounting point of the upper control arm as well ( control arm drop ) and some you dont they just give you a larger knuckle to span the new distance. More then likely there will be some cutting and drilling involved and it is more then recommented to have someone do it with you...buddy system. If they were wanting 2500 just to install it...thats just outrageous. I would say you could be safe charging anywhere between the 300 up to 600. When ever I have a side job like this...I kind of think about what I make at my job....take my wage and adjust accordingly if it was more of a pain or less. But I would say $60 an hour for 10 hours or so... $600. Or you could go the safe route...since you dont know how much of a pain it could or couldnt be and might feel ripped off afterwords...just tell him that you would have to install and think about it but you wouldnt charge anymore then $1000.....that way you have a cushion. Keep on truckin
