Talking Got my LMC catalog......

Man I don't know if it's because the pictures or what, but LMC seems to have everything. All you need is a frame with suspension, drive train and a cab and you could build a whole truck from this catalog.

Too bad everything they have is expensive as hell.

The catalog is cool, with the assembly diagrams and everything, but once you get to the real specific parts where there could be a lot of variance (like differentials) their eye for detail starts to slip a bit.

Yes I did notice the prices are a little pricy compared to others.

I use mine as a reference, then I call one of the parts guys on the board. They are usually cheaper anyway.

Yup, referance mostly, although I have purchased from them with pretty good luck so far.

Red face

I bought a couple of their bed halves for 200 bucks and replaced my metal floor. I was happy with the results. However, for the most part they are expensive, and their phone order folks are about as helpful as a chapped arse. My two bits.

I wonder if they pay much attention to the wide variation in parts quality, I feel better with a smaller supplier who can speak from experience as to the quality of the parts. The catalog is fantastic tho.

Me too.

I once called LMC about a part. I had a question about actual dimensions, and the woman on the phone told me to expect an answer to my single, very simple question within 48 hours by a "technical expert". That was after they refused to talk to me unless I had a part number (I left the catalog at home).

Two days later this guy (who was actually very nice) calls me up to tell me the dimensions of the part. Of course, by then I didn't need it any more...

Cool

The two suppliers that I have had the best luck is GMCPauls and Classic Heartbeat. They know Chevy/GMC trucks and are always helpful. And they are very price competitive. My .0002 worth.

The best thing the LMC catalog is for is when you forget how to put your truck back together!!

Once you figure out what part you need, check out Classic Heartbeat, and the part should always be cheaper..

Seems I'm like everyone else here. I use it for reference too but never buy from them. The smaller vendors are way better to deal with. Not just on price, I prefer the one on one customer service and knowledge they provide. Plus I strongly believe in supporting the small business man whenever I can.

Support your board vendors!

All of our vendors on here are guys down in the trenches like us. They read the forum and answer questions because they know what they're talking about. LMC does not. LMC is mainly a British car parts company.

i like his answer! if i talk to a vendor about a part here on the board, they will tell me who they got it from how much, how much to ship and if its what i need.... i like that!

i have never liked calling a place and all you get is a bunch of recordings. when my cable modem quit working, i called the cable company, which led me too their broadband dept, which led me to earthlink, and hit the button for tech support and the recording told me to call my cable company...?????
so i call hit whatever i can so i can talk to an actual person, then i ask for a specific dept and tell them what happened
