Found SWB frame local- has problem with front of it. PICS
I have been looking for a new cab and also a new frame for my 71 because my stuff is just really bad! I found a SWB frame about an hour away from me and the guy sent me some pics of it. He told me it is in good shape and has no rust, but has a problem with the front frame horns. From the pics I gather this means where the bumper would attach at the front. Here are the pics he sent me. He only wants 100.00 for the frame so if this is an easy fix, I'll go for it. Just wanted some insight from everyone on here before buying.
thanks in advance, russ

i would pass. that frame is twisted/bent. the front horns show where it was pulled to try and straighten it take a look at the first crossmember... its all twisted

The frame horns can be replaced with donors from another truck, just cut and weld the donors on. Yours looks in much worse shape than that. definately just scrap iron from here...

thanks, thats what i needed. another set of unbiased eyes to look at it. i see exactly what you are talking about with that front member, its all kinked by the ratchet strap there.
thanks, russ

- keep on walking - pass on that one.
Looks to be quite a hit considering how bad that twisting is... |
