Hey all, consider this my introduction. I just picked this one up 2 weeks ago from a guy just south of Jackson, MI. It was originally owned by two brothers that were mechanics and owned their own shop; they used it as a parts delivery truck. The PO bought it from them with the intent to restore, but lost interest.

It's a '72 C10 Cheyenne with 115,000 original miles. It has one replaced rocker panel (passenger side), and is largely rust-free. It also appears to have been painted, as the bottom trim peices came seperate and the window trim "fuzzies" have some overspray on them.

The drivetrain appears to be almost completely untouched save for oil change, etc. I put some new plugs in it and ended up having to replace the battery. It runs well otherwise, I drive it every other day or so.

I'm not totally sure what direction I'm going to go with it, but it will remain close to stock in the near future due to time constraints. I will be replacing the exhaust soon, and I was thinking about headers; any suggestions are welcome, preferably something that doesn't make it impossible to reach the spark plugs.

So, whaddyathink?

Wow...Nice original truck. I've always liked the clean looks of the original, with just a touch of updating. Freshened ralleys, dual exhaust, nothing major. Have fun and congrats on the ride...

Awesome truck!
As for headers, I have some long tube hookers that keep access to the plugs pretty simple. I love the stock look...
I cant read the SPID but what kind of running gear are you working with?
350/TH350?

Yep they're thumbs for hi-res pics. I assume those hookers fit without issues... I'll look into them, thanks for the tip.

Hookers are a real good way to go if you have the coin. They tuck up pretty good, exit paralel with the frame instead of aimed down, and only one plug needs a wrench to remove, the rest a socket and extention work fine.
That is a pretty nice somewhat original truck there. Any idea how much rust was there before the repaint?

Not really sure if rust was the point of the re-paint, since there's plenty on the tailgate that didn't get taken care of. The PO said he suspected the passenger side bed panel had been replaced, but if the did it they did a darn good job.

good deal. I only ask becouse we both know what happened to 75% of these things up here... disolved to a pile of rust and reclaimed by mother earth.

They were almost as bad as AMC stuff in that retrospect.

Nice truck! Looks like they replaced some of the original interior pieces(Dash Bezel and Glovebox door face) with Cheyenne Super Woodgrain.
