Anyone have Longhorn 4x4 frame mod pictures?
I am gearing up to do my 4x swap to my Longhorn and was curious if any of you have any pics of your frame where the shackles are going to end up. Mine has a notch and slit kind of like where an e-brake cable would go in. Is this in the general area, and will that give me problems with my shackle placement? My truck is a 72. thanks for any help/pictures you all can provide.

I don't have pics but will be doing the same thing with a 1-ton frame. The problem area for the rear hangers of the front leaf spring is the area where the emergency brake cable passes through the frame. Some guys heat it up and hammer it flat, some cut it out and weld in a flat piece of steel. I'm leaning towards the cut/weld approach.

Thanks Bobs, that is what I am thinking of doing as well. I cruised the site and found a pic of a C30 71ish that was converted ans it looked like he welded a piece over the outside of the frame but I can't tell 100% on that. I will take pics when I do mine.

Edit: I just used longer springs to avoid the ebrake hump. I have a longer frame that once cut will match up to a LongHorn bed. Last edited by FormerMember; 07-22-2008 at 08:00 PM. |

Thanks for the link! I found the pictures and I will probabaly cut the e brake spots out and install a flat piece and plate the outside portion for support if needed.
