Re: Car Craft Summer Nationals

Just a quick story on the Car Craft Summer Nationals... Back in 1980 a friend and I, and my wife, went to the Car Craft Street Machine Nationals in Indy. Grand prize was a brand spankin' new 1980 Pontiac Firebird fully customized by a fellow named Ted Barney in California. Sharp car, well, my buddy won that car and my wife got to drive it back home to W VA.

Good luck and enjoy!!

Re: Car Craft Summer Nationals

Went to the show today, with my two youngest ones. Saw a lot of nice trucks. I know most people really like the muscle cars and cars in general, but to me, there are just so damn many camaros/chevelles/mustangs/chargers/tri5's/etc. that I just walk past most of them. My favorite cars are 69 mach 1 mustangs and 67 GTO's, so I'll usually look those over, otherwise, I'm scouting the 67-72 trucks. I found a few very nice trucks, nothing that really astounded me. I talked to a few owners and had some good conversations. Overall a good day, so here are the pics:

Black and coys seem popular this year.

Hey, I think this is 1972 C-10!

How 'bout a Yenko 427 Camino

This was a mini-monster with 49" tires, the rug rats are mine

Love those stangs:

This one is almost exactly like the one my dad bought new when he got out of the air force.
BTW, the guy in the orange t-shirt is taking a leak.

My favorite GTO of the show, this car was absolutely astounding

One of the more heavily modified trucks, but unfinished:

These guys were cool. They brought there blazers cause they knew they were under represented, I think I saw a total of 3 blazers.

I liked the phantom grill

Cool pics!

Ol' Randy Coy is just sitting back counting the Benjamins ain't he? Those things are popping up at every show I've been to or seen online in the last year or so.

Best car hauler of the meet:

This old guy had some good home grown enginuity. He works at a big rig trailer repair place. He used scraps from repairing trailers to make his floor and bed cover. He's probably pushing 70 and was going to do the burnout contest for the 2nd time. Very nice guy and his wife also.

El Mater

This 69 stang belongs to Jack Morris, ex-MN twins pitcher, won in the world series, etc, etc. And by far the nicest 69 Mustang I've ever seen.

Re: Car Craft Summer Nationals

I think this was the nicest restoration I saw today. The guy bought it out of oklahoma. It was straight and clean, but missing the interior, lights, etc. He restored it and it is an original 1967, with BIG window cab. Took a pic of the glove box sticker and saw the panoramic option. I've only seen one other of these myself.
