Drove my junk to work

Finally got brave enough to drive my more than a mile from the house. I put a new motor in the week of the 4th and trying to get the bugs worked out. I got the motor running and on the first test drive the heater core and p/s pump started leaking. I by passed the heater core and mixed and matched a pump and reservoir for that leak and now my speedometer has quit. Oh well, just another excuse to spend more time in the shop!

Re: Drove my junk to work

Probably just the speedo cable. Your truck looks good. Keep up the good work and build some confidence.

The first few drives are nerve racking, every little noise has you worried and you're constantly watching the guages.

Re: Drove my junk to work

Those first few drives are nail biters for sure - I learned it is best to do those drives with out the wife or kids. My first drive in the K5 after getting it roadworthy left me and the kids sitting dead in an intersection - was quite a while before my wife stopped throwing that in my face.
