I have a short; Need assistance
Well after much consternation, I figured out I have a short but I haven't been able to track it down as of yet. I disconnected the negative battery cable connected the test light to confirm the short. I disconnected all of the fuses/relays at the fusebox one by one but the light stays on. I do not know where to look now. Any help is appreciated.

Re: I have a short; Need assistance
I think I've read suggestions to disconnect the big red wire from the alternator and test again...

Re: I have a short; Need assistance
OK, I have narrowed down the short to the red wires that connect to the starter. On those wires close to the starter there are are two black plastic cylinders one marked 14 the other 16 are these fuses or surge protectors?

Re: I have a short; Need assistance
They're fuseable links.. there may be a dead short somewhere in there..

Re: I have a short; Need assistance
Well I replaced that complete wire from the starter to the junction block and... my test light still indicates a short so I think I need to remove wires from the junction block until I find the real short.

Re: I have a short; Need assistance
I think I finally tracked it down. When I turn the ignition key to "ON" the short shows up.

Re: I have a short; Need assistance
Hmm.. I'd check any constant 12V source coming to/from the fuse box then..

Re: I have a short; Need assistance
Well, there's more than one.. was this happening before you put the new distributor in?

Re: I have a short; Need assistance
Have you tried putting the old distributor back in to see what happens?
