Electric Water Pumps, for street use
I've just read a thread concerning this topic, and am confused(typical) Durability and function are my concern, and it seems they have neither!
I've spent alot of money on this setup w/o checking to see if it works, so now my problem is finding a way to make it work. Has anyone sucessfully done this, for street use. I also bought an alum. rad., but this doesn't seem to fix the problem either, so what are my choices, any? Thank you for any input or suggestions, I don't want to go back to a belt driven w/p, but if I have to I will

Re: Electric Water Pumps, for street use
Define street use. Weekend play toy or daily driver. We have run the CSI pumps on the street with no problems. I don't think I would try it with one that says drag race use only, but I have never had an issue with them. But, be aware that a lot of the electric pumps flow the water too fast and that you have to have a restrictor of some sort in there. Don't just run the thermostat housing with nothing in it. If you run a thermostat, you need to drill a couple of small holes in it to allow some water through. It seems like they were about 1/8", but the instructions usually tell you what to drill. Breaking the bottom of a thermostat off and just running the top plate works about as well as the restrictors that they sell.

Re: Electric Water Pumps, for street use
Not every day use but maybe sometimes, I was worried about the elec. motor taking a dump and I would have no flow. No instructions with it, I will call the manftr. for info. Didn't know about holes
Andy, any reason why?

Re: Electric Water Pumps, for street use
They arent as reliable and people have been left stranded because of them. A buddy of mine runs a CSR on his DD, but carries a cheapy reman water pump in his trunk with new gaskets incase it dies. $30-40 dollar insurance policy.

Re: Electric Water Pumps, for street use
That's what I was worried about, I thought I could carry an extra motor, but I would loose all my fluid. Plus all my brackets are set up for this system
