In just 9 months....

...my truck has gone from streetable to questionable. It hasn't gone as I wanted it to go, but I suppose change can be progress even if it is questionable. Here's a couple pix. I "drove" it this morning but don't assume it was complete when I did. Nevertheless, it was running then and now....

The first picture shows the results of using a non-automotive RTV silicone sealant on an automotive surface.

The second picture shows its current appearance. Engine and transmission are next to be removed, then I get to clean off the firewall so the metal guru can wave his magic plasma cutter and MIG wand over them.

Yeah, you know it's going slow....

Well hey. At least you've got it back now. And it's still progress being minus sheet metal since it has to come off before it can go back together.
Here a while back you asked me if I knew where you might could get that cowl section since yours was bad. If I hadn't checked my messages that morning I would have had one cut out for ya but you said your bud had one. Is this the guy?
Oh yeah, I am including this pic for you. Maybe a little inspiration. I think it looks about like how you have described how yours might end up. It has that "California Kid" hot rod look to it. It belongs to a board member but I do not have his name. I dig it!

Yeah. I don't know who these 2 trucks belong to but I'd like to see more of them. Louverd hood, flat black n red, red rallys and hot rod trim rings. Wouldn't it be cool if it had a 327 with 3 dueces under that hood and a muncie 4 speed with 4.10 gear? It would be totally bad azz for me.

Re: In just 9 months....

Oh yeah, I love the look of that truck! That's the closest one to my vision that I have seen. I like the '67-8 lower side trim, too....even on a '69-72. Heck, Chip Foose liked it too and put it on a '72(?) that he did for a Marine on Overhaulin'. The louvers really set off the hood. The red bed insides is a touch I wanted but didn't do. The red interior, though is bought, except for getting the colorant to re-color the leather seat I have.
