Thumbs down help I'm locked out!!!

Well i decided to change my door locks and well i shut the door and now i can't open it. i was having trouble when i would lock it from the inside and close it. it would unlock and i would have to use the key. so i pulled out the lock Cyclinder and shut it, for whatever reason i don't know but i did and now i can open it up. i've tried the handle inside and i've tried the U shaped lever inside that the lock itself controls and nothing. any suggestions????? HELP

Re: help I'm locked out!!!

I don't have a suggestion about getting it unlocked, but your door locks were operating correctly. You have to use a key from the outside.

Yup, that's how they made 'em. At least you'll never lock your keys inside.

Re: help I'm locked out!!!

the only other way, is if you are inside the truck, and press the button down.
But that makes it hard to get out!

Re: help I'm locked out!!!

This reminds me of a woman I know who drives a new model Nissan and got locked IN her car. This is for real. She was inside and could not get out and she had the keys in there with her. I know what you are thinking and she is not blonde...She could not figure out how to unlock the doors. She had a panick attact. She was there for almost an hour before someone could get there to coach her on how to unlock the doors. The dealer's mechanic told her that her cell phone scrambled the signal to the remote door locks. You know there is bound to be a manual lock release in there too, on every door. What a deal....

Re: help I'm locked out!!!

Seriously.
I had a similar problem with my GMC.

I happened to notice one day, with the door open and the window down; I could see the key lock and rod and other miscellaneous stuff.

I took a can of WD-40 with a straw and just sprayed the livin' beJesus out of the key lock and everything else I could see down inside the door.
Then I worked the key several times and now, a couple of years later, everything still works just fine.

Just my .02 on my own personal experiences.

Re: help I'm locked out!!!

Hey now...I take offense to that blonde joke. Being a natural blonde myself I've come to notice that it's not so much the true blondes that are the dumb ones but the fake/bleached blondes that are, not all of them of course.

I never lock mine,it seems like.
A little while after my wife got her Cherokee the opener battery went dead. She`s pannicking,"That`s ridiculous! How do you get in when the battery`s dead???"...I say,"Uh...use the key?"

Re: help I'm locked out!!!

Let that be a lesson to you. I worked in a bodyshop for many years and you never know [I]what[I/] you are going to run into. If you are doing this kind of work to one of the doors.......open the one on the other side first, or at least roll down the window on the other door. I have had to "break in" to all kinds of different cars/trucks in my time at the shop, for various reasons. It's no fun and an ounce of prevention......
