upper control arm cross shafts

Need some help on the best way to remove old cross shafts. I can only find meterials relating to later models that have a nut you take off and then chisel the bushing out. The 63 has a lager nut (1 3/8) that tightens onto the shaft. That is my observation by just looking at the new one.

remove the nuts on both ends and twist out the shaft. Use a vice to grip the a-arm. You can use a heavy duty screwdriver or bar to put in the holes of the shaft (two bolts that hold a-arm to frame). It is not that hard to do, but may be hard to remove without penetrating oil.

With the shaft still bolted to the cross-member (2 lateral bolts) use a large wrench to twist the bolts off, then removed the shaft. and replace the same way.

Re: upper control arm cross shafts

Well my grandfather gave me a 35mm socket from a friend at the dealership and the caps came right off. I finish both in a matter of seconds. Man I love air tools, I do not know what I would do without one.
