Hi, I got a set of dog dishes for my 71 4x4, They have gold bow ties, but I have seen some that are blue. Is that an indicator of the year?
Here is a picture of the ones I just got.

IIRC, the yellow is '73 and up. The blue bowties are correct for 69-72??? I believe..could be wrong, someone chime will if I am.

I thought the yellow bowties were 69-70's. the blues were 71-72's.

however I'm not 100% sure on that...

69 - 72 was blue
73 - 87 was yellow
I think in 88 they went to the gold that is still used now.

The yellow are 73-75.Then,switched to another style with yellow until `91 on the V/R models.Ever since the`88-ups with center caps,and hubcaps became a thing of the past,the bowties have be gold colored plastic,like the emblems on the grille and body.
I don`t know the exact correct color.But,I used Rustoleum Sail Blue and it looked about right.I believe the`72 dark blue is pretty darned close,too.
