No, sorry no pic of it installed. It goes on the pass side, just to the right of the trans tunnel on the sloped part of the cab floor.

Thanks for the pic. I should have snapped one before the parts truck went away.

Re: BBC heat shield DFW

I will take it (if it's avaliable and not spoken for) if you can wait a day or so. I want to find out the condition of mine. I have a 402BB in a 70 C10.

Was watching this thread to confirm what I have found to date, I have come to believe that 71 402 trucks were the first to get these shields. Is your 70 cst an original bbc truck and if so did you find a heat shield present?

PM'd you back, sold.
I'm sure my 68 BBC truck didn't come with a heat shield.

My truck came with the 402BB. It is my understanding that the heat shield was implored to keep some of the exhaust heat off the starter. When the starter was overly (?) heated the armature did funny things and it would not work properly until it cooled down. My truck had headers put on so I am not sure if it had a factory heat shield or not but I am going to install it for pm. I hope this resolves the starter problems of the past.

Re: BBC heat shield DFW

This type off heat shield is not going to help in keeping any heat off your starter.

Re: BBC heat shield DFW

The shield is designed to keep the cab floor from getting too hot from the passenger side exhaust manifold. Using a high-torque mini starter will solve all of the problems associated with the stock starter.

Re: BBC heat shield DFW

No problem...the mini starter also gives you a lot more clearance if you are using headers instead of manifolds.
