275/60's or 255/70's. and hey all miss ya.

Hey guys sorry I have been away again but this time I have been working and getting ready for college.

I have a question. What do u think will look better. 275/60 or 255/70. I plan on getting the 255/70's. I think they will more tire in the wheels wells.

and here is a pic of mine before paint of the 60's amd matt's 86 (my brother old truck) with the 70's

well thanks again guys.

Hey 8T3GMC, I am in the same boat as you. I have an 87 SWB with only a 2" lowering shackle on the rear. Can you tell me between you and your brothers trucks, which one has the least space between the top of the fender and the tire? Also, is the wideness of the 60 series alot more noticable than the 70 series? Also, man your truck is really sweet!!!

I prefer the 275/60 but I here there can be clearance issues up front if you ever decide to lower it.

BTW, Whenever I think I want to sell my truck and I see yours, I change my mind.
Nice clean looking truck.

275/60 fits perfect in the rear. In the front, if you ever lower it at all, you'll have clearance issues. Hell, I have issues with a 255/60 15...

thanks camaross, the 255/70 puts more tire in the wells. The black and gray truck has less space than mine.

Hey 82gmc, thats statment is flatering, that makes me feel really good about what i have done to the truck.

My brother had that truck with the 70's and there was no clearance problem and I am planing on lowering it but i have seen a lot of this trucks lowered 5,7 with 70's, so I am not worried about clearance

Thanks guys.

Nice truck man. If you are going to keep it stock height for a while and you know for a fact that the 255/70 wont rub in the front with a mild drop then I say go with the 70s. I went with 245/60s in the front and 275/60s in the rear with a 4.5/5 drop and im happy with the look but if I had kept it stock height or gone with a more mild drop then I think 70s would have worked good.

I plan on dropping my 87 2.5/4 with 255/70. Slonaker did the same drop with the 255/70 and has no clearance problems. If you go any lower, I'd probably recommend the 60 series. Both of those trucks look awesome!

I have 275/60x15's mounted on 8" wide aftermarket rims on my truck that is lowered with 3" drop control arms. I have not noticed any clearance issues... but then I have not gotten to drive it much. Where are you seeing it rub??

i have 255/70s on 8 in rallies on my 72. i wish that i had gone with the 275/60s for sure. i dont think that there is a better tire out there for a truck.

Yep. No clearance issues whatsoever. Of course, now I want to go another inch or so in the front....

Anybody got some pics of trucks with 60's and 70's.

I pretty much made up my mind I wont have the money to lower it for a year or two so I plan to go 255/70 on all fours.

I think you will like the 70s better. I got an 88 with 255/ 70s and love the fat tire look. If anyone can tell me how to post pics , I'll get you some, if you like.

I think you'll like the 255/70s. At first I was leaning toward the 275s too but since i only leveled the rear of my truck I went with the 255s
