They are expensive. I believe the guy from Brothers has seen them and said the quality was good.

I bought one from Brothers. I think it was back in '99. Quality was good. Only problem was my original hatch had gotten torn up in a mishap, spilling small parts all over the desert. So I had to search around junkyards and specialty venders to get new relay rods, side catches, and handle/lock parts.
So keep your old hardware if you have it -- the new hatch is bare.

`68OrangeSunshine,how long did you run that on your K/5?Long enough to say it would hold up ok?Did you run the desert much with it?Do you recall what it cost?
So,what would my solid original be worth w/all hardware & glass?$300?IMO it should be $500 since it`s OEM w/all parts.With all good oEM body pieces I`ll pay at least the cost of a repo piece.But,that`s me.

I paid about $400, nine years ago. [Or was it $389 then? I picked it up at the Brothers shop in Corona Calif.] It has held up well on my '71 Jimmy. Fit was pretty good. Light gelcote finish. What problems I had were due to losing the original hardware. I did find that the side catches from a Suburban tailgate were very similiar and would work in a pinch if switched left-for-right, inverted, and a corner ground off. The most annoying thing is the length of the relay rods. [The reference tape tags came off and got mixed in with some Suburban relay rods, so I didn't know which was which.] Then the lock broke in the OEM twist handle and I had to replace that too.
Even now, when I turn the handle clockwise: the drivers' side catch clicks open first, then the passengers' side one clicks. On securing it, a well placed elbow on the passenger side lower corner is sometimes necessary to get the catch to lock up.
I'm not a rabid off-roader, but I do live in Tucson AZ, so a wild environment can impose itself on me when I'm trying to get from Point A to Point B.
As far as what your OEM unit is worth -- well that's up to the buyer. What he can afford, how bad he wants it and what the market will bear.
I'd say the Brothers repop hatch is a quality product, made in USA by surfer dudes who know their way around making a fiberglass piece.

I have one on my Jimmy from brothers And in my opinion I think its a piece of ..... i will let your mind think. I talked to the guy at brothers in Corona about it a few times..... His Name Is JC he is the parts manager or something like that and I told him about problems I found and he said he was going to check with the vendor and see what the deal was and call me back..... Called him back several times and the guys that answer the phone say the same old thing Well he is still checking on it ..... Oh the vendor has not got back to him..... Blah blah Bull chit......

Ok now for the problems The alignment is way off on it I have not did it but it I want it to look half way decent on the truck when its closed I would have to shave off like 1 or 12 inch to make it look even all the way around. Also the The inside of mine where all the hardware goes..... It does not have any metal so all I would bolt to is the fiber glass. There is no Metal reinforcement in this thing at all and if you all want pics of it I will be glad to take some and post em..... For this I will never buy stuff from Brothers again ..... i would rather go to the truck shop in orange county California or Classic Industries in Long Beach.
