floor shifter
using a 3'' hole saw where do you cut on the hump to put a floor shifter in for example how far from the seat and how far from the side of the hump. i have a in-line 6 with the original transmission and i want to convert the three speed on the column to the floor. The shifter is a hurst shifter.

I'm afraid we're going to need some more info to give you an answer. What tranny do you have and what shifter are you trying to install?

I did mine with a center punch from under the truck to mark the shifter hole in the right place, then hole sawed from the top and it was perfect. Just line up over you shift lever where it is going to pass through the floor and whack the punch, then drill away. remember, double check the position before you drill.

I cut the hole in my floorboard for a three speed floor shifter. My truck is a 1966 swb stepside. My measurements are: 35 inches from the back wall of the cab and 28 5/8 inches from driver door with it closed. That intersection is the lower left corner of the hole. The hole is 1 5/8 inches wide and 3 inches long.The 3 inches is from back to front. Mount your shifter bracket to the side of the trans and take a look where it is. This might help also.
