Talking steering colum idea need input

will a 67 caddy stearing colum fit in a 67 gmc .found 1 at a local junkyard,i was thinking how cool it would look.i thought i would ask before i took on the challange.thanks for all input

Good question. Is the Caddy column a tilt/telescope? What I'm going to guess is that you may need to do a little finessing of the fitment at the rag joint. The overall length of the column is going to be an issue. Placement in the truck in such a position that the wheel isn't too close to your body, while still allowing you to attach it to the rag joint and the instrument panel is the issue.

Have you done any measurements to see how similar or unalike they are? I'd start right there before pulling anything out of your truck.

Well the obvious is the face that the 67-72 columns are 2" with a shifter and the mid 70's vans are the same. Just about everything else is 2.25" Including the caddy column that you have spoke about. The column in the 72's are also 35" long. This obviously doesn't apply since you are looking at a tele column. In the end it can be done just be prepared for some modifications to the mounting at the firewall as well as possibly not fitting in the notch under the dash as the factory one.
