Steering Linkage for Z'd Frame Question

Just wonderin what all of you 60-66 guys are doing for your steering linkage w/ z'd frames. I'm thinkin bout zing mine 3 inches and am wondering what joints I'll need to get for it afterwards. By the way, I'm keeping it the no power steering setup. Leaving it as is for the time being. Thanks for any help.

This link for slmd92dimes build http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=269019 will give you an idea of what some guys are doing. Slmd92dime has the most frugal way to do it. As he say's the steering u joints get pretty expensive. I have a ways to go on mine before i worry about steering!

Sweet. Yeah I've been looking at your thread for how I'll be doing mine. Looks like your doin great work. I'm surprised, it looks like he was able to just notch the upper control arm and call it a day.
I was looking at the way camaro__thunder and XXL suggested doing it. Sweet, so ours must be easier then because its not power so its out of the way more, or something like that. I'm down w/ that.

Thanks for the kind words. I hope I don't need to use all the u joints for my steering linkage. I like to keep everything simple.(and cheap)

Me too. I'm at gonzaga so private college kicks my butt enough. Don't need the truck to also.

Looks like he just ran it straight, so I'm looking forward to that...

You can use U-joints from other junkyard finds and not have to buy the expensive aftermarket ones at $65 each. Mine has rack & pinion steering on it now and I fabed up the steering linkage from old stock steering shafts I had laying around. Didn't cost me a dime and only a few minutes of work.

This is a good point if you need to do the u-joint thing. Thanks for sharing that idea! I like easy and cheap
