turbo 350

i have been told that a turbo 350 can be had with a lock up converter, and will get better mileage than a nonlock up converter. no wiring harness to install either. is this true ?

Re: turbo 350

Yes, the 350 was available with lock up converter, it takes a power feed routed thru the brake pedal and if I remember the rest is in the trans. Be aware these are different than 'regular' 350's and the TCC (torque converter clutch) will not like high HP or monster torque. But for a basically stock DD driven over 45mph or so they will help your mileage ~5%

Re: turbo 350

The GM 350C tranny was one with a lockup converter. They came on the Mid 80s trucks and did pretty fair jobs on their application. Most tranny shops did not want to touch them, because the output shft on them was smaller than a standard 350. The option was then to just install a 700 R4 and get lower first gear and the OD gear also.
