Synthetic Oils
Is it safe to use FULL Synthetic in my 1969 GMC? I don't see why it wouldn't be. . . I use it in everything else. I'm aklso thinking of going toa heavier weight like a 15-50. . Any advice or comments guys? Thanks

Re: Synthetic Oils
why go to a thicker oil? If your engine is in good shape, then a thick oil only puts more strain on your pump
Synthetic is great stuff, no reason not to use it. |

Re: Synthetic Oils
Don't go with a thicker oil.. just use what the manufacture spec recommends, unless you live in a climate (desert) that its 90F+ when you drive.. even then it doesn't rly help.
Using that thick of oil wont hurt your engine though.. aprox. 80% of engine wear is from starting the engine anyways. Last edited by 68ChevyGuy; 08-07-2008 at 06:25 PM. |

Re: Synthetic Oils
you don't add synthetic for HP gains, you run it becouse it is better, and if it is properly tuned (not running rich) the extended drain intervals.
