And there is a difference between GMC and Chevy on the 67-68 latches as well

The gmc latch will work, but the handle is moved to the right because of the center section on the GMC grille.

Depends on what you are doing. I put a '67 hood on my '70 and it closed and latched like stock. Drove it around like that for a while... If you are using the complete 67-68 front clip, you will likely need the correct latch.
