Re: this site sucks

I will be the first to say that this site does not suck, furthermore you do not have to pay unless you want to sell something or do other certain things, if you do not want to pay to sell things use craigslist, but the cost seems very reasonable considering you have to pay to get a space at a swap meet, just my .02

My truck would not be what it is were it not for the wealth of information on this site, Thanks to everyone

Re: this site sucks

I'm sorry you feel this way.
You don't have to pay, unless you want to sell something or buy something.
If the expertise and knowledge you get on this board isn't worth a lowsy 25.00 a year, then I suggest you leave quietly.

Re: this site sucks

I think that you only have to pay to post want to buy ads or items for sale. You do not have to pay to be able to buy off of the postings in the for sale section

You dont need to pay to buy something from someone, you only need a subscription to post that you WANT to buy something(or sell). However, if you see someone selling the item that you are looking for you can post on their threads and buy stuff that way. Similar, if you are trying to sell something and someone posted a add looking for that item you can post on their thread and sell the item to them. So your kinda blowing it out of proportion, besides 25 bucks a year hardly breaks the bank. If you buy just one can of soda a week you have paid double the cost of this website.

Re: this site sucks

Anything that is for sale in the for sale section you can purchase from the seller just post in the thread that you wish to do so and make arrangements. The only thing that costs money on this site is to place an ad yourself to sell parts or sell a vehicle.

This has to be one of the best sites out there for any hobby the info alone is worth the $25.00 per year

Re: this site sucks

i have not been allowed to do the following:
reply to a for sale thread
reply to a wanted to buy thread
reply to a reply of my own wanted to buy thread, which was deleted.
basically i cannot buy or sell items from members unless it's incognito, which will probably end up getting deleted anyways.

Not arguing with you Berencam, but I didn't think this was allowed either without a subscription. I thought this was looked at as sidestepping the rules so to speak. Besides that, I agree that the 25.00 is nothing that will break the bank. This sight is well worth the little amount of money to use it's special functions. If he hasn't realized that yet then he hasn't been on here for long. I would like to see all the knowledgeable experts you can ask about mechanical issues at all hours of the day and get advice, knowledge, opinions, and help for free. JMHO.

Re: this site sucks

If we agree with you that this site sucks, will you go away? There are MANY sites on the cyclopean internet that I think sucks, i just don't go back to them... and I don't whine of their policies. I am not a member here, I don't whine, when I get enough time in my life to utilize the paid options I will most certainly do so. Until them I suggest you live and enjoy what is available to you, or move on...

Well said sir!

I've only bought one thing from a member of this board, but the money I saved more than paid for my subscription.

Not only that, but the amount of info and the camaraderie of this sight are well worth that measly $25 IMHO. I'm sure you can find other places to sell your stuff or buy stuff if you don't want to pay the fee.

I can
guarantee you one thing, you aren't gonna get any respect on this site with titles such as "This site sucks!"

Try Ebay.

Plenty of people do just fine here with the rules as they are.

Move on if you dont like the site.

No need to post crying about it.

Re: this site sucks

You're absolutely right, Sir.
$2.09 per month is an outrageous amount of money.

Ergo, I don't fault you at all for going away, never to be heard from again.

I don't think I've ever done anything that required me to be a paying subscriber. But after just looking at things for a week, or 2, I figured the cost to support the site was worth more than the free information I'd gleaned.

Good bye, farewell, adieu, to you.

Oh yeah, that was just my .02, in case you couldn't figure it out.

F For $25 where else can you:
1) Sell to a targeted audience who has the potential to buy want what you want to sell?

2) Get advice on how to fix something that you have no clue to fix?

3) Sell something and know your going to get paid?

4) Buy something and know your not going o get ripped off?

5) Where topics are non controversial?

6) Where the sight becomes your best friends who accept you as you are…even with bad jokes?

7) Has a live library full of info available on 4x4 Tech and Off Road info, Suspension info, Electrical info, Paint & body info, Engine and Drivetrain info, Racing and High Performance info, and a Review board.

8) Where else can you go to find that hard to find part to keep your truck on the road?

9) Where else can you go to get a part identified for your truck?

10) Where else can you go to get support when you’re going through some tough times?

11) Where else can you go to get specific ideas on fixing up your truck or just keeping it going?

12) What other board has the Longhorn Man?

13) What other place can you sell your truck to a specific group of people?

14) Where else can you go without seeing the garbage that you might see elsewhere?

I can go on but why? Yes $25 is a lot of money to all of us but it comes down to priorities. Instead of blasting this board maybe you shuld asked for help because there are people who have paid for others to have subscriptions for this site without any catches because they truly did not have the funds. Malibumick... If the above information doesn’t meet your needs, than this board is not for you. Do you think it’s free to operate this site and to maintain it? What is a persons time worth? For me it is worth $25. If you are serious about keeping you truck on the road and fixing it up…this is the place! Period.

Re: this site sucks

hey look, i think its just a misunderstanding here. he has 10 post so this guy clearly is new here and just doesn't know the board yet. instead of everyone insulting him or her, lets try to figure out why he can't reply to someone's ad or private message another member.
and malibu, instead of insulting this board and its members. just ask a question. if you don't like the responce or not reaching enough people, it wouldn't hurt to try ebay, or cragslist ect..

Re: this site sucks

To set the record straight:
Non-subscribing members are not allowed to start a post with a "For Sale" or a "Want To Buy" ....but they can respond to one that was started by a Subscriber.
Trying "Get around" the rules are posts where non-subs start making offers to other non-subs with-in a post or when things start going to PM. That is against the rules too. Private Messege sales/offers confuse the action that is on the board. People that think they are "in-line" for a part get cut out or out bid.....both of which are unfair and therefore against the rules.
PMs are OK to exchange information about shipping addresses of course, but the actual transaction discussion is supposed to be on the board.

Generally an "edit" and a simple explanation is all that is required. Sometimes, when there are a lot of replies, it is just easier to remove the entire thread.
It is the member's responsibility to know and follow the rules....they are not hard to find, they are at the top of nearly every page. Plus, everyone has to agree to them when they sign-up.
